Efficiently Cleaning Awkward Household Items
1. Shower head: Typically, when we clean the shower, we scrub the bathtub, the tiles on the wall and maybe even the faucet. What we don’t usually consider cleaning is the shower head. Once your shower head gets to the point where you notice how dirty it looks and actually want to do something about it, it’s more than likely beyond a simple wipe down. So how do we clean the shower head? Scrub it with the sponge and throw some water at it? No! We have a little trick that will restore your shower head to new condition with very minimal effort.
Pour distilled white vinegar into a bad, cover your shower head with the bag, and tie a rubber band around it to keep it in place. In about an hour you can remove the bag and wipe the shower head clean with a damp rag. Voila! As good as new.
2. Blinds: Slatted blinds can be a pain to clean. Trying to maneuver your sponge in between each piece to wipe away all the dirt and dust is definitely a tedious job. We have a simple little trick that will have you wondering why you didn’t think of this yourself!
To clean your blinds quickly and effectively add equal part warm water and white vinegar to a dish. Slip a tube sock over your hand and dip it into the cleaning solution. Now you can use your finger to easily clean the blinds and stop trying to work with that dirty old sponge.
3. Pet hair on carpet: If you have dogs or cats, you understand the frustration of not being able to sit on your carpet without being covered in hair. Worse than that, you’ve probably seen the dust balls float across your kitchen floor when any amount of wind happens to catch them and lift them into the air. The days of avoiding your carpet and sweeping up hair are over!
In order to completely remove all pet hair from your carpet you are going to need a squeegee. I know, random right? Well it works! Pick a starting point and do exactly what you’re thinking, squeegee your carpet. The rubber material will catch hair and make it easy to bring into a pile and pick up off the floor.
4. Lamp shades: Lamp shades are infamous for catching lots of dust and holding onto it for dear life. This is what makes cleaning them so time consuming and kind of aggravating. As hard as you try to use the duster or even a towel to lift the dirt off your shades, it just doesn’t work. So what do you do?
